Possibilities

Waking up that morning

I tip-toed downstairs

so as not to awaken my daughters.

Something was different.

Something was changed.

What could it be?

I turned the coffee maker on, fed my begging  lab

and let him outside.

Still thinking.

Aware.

Something was different.

Today for the first time in weeks

there was a sense of energy and hope and aliveness.

Where had it come from?

For months there had been this heaviness within.

So many deaths.

So much sickness.

And rules to remember and follow.

But today it was different.

I poured my coffee and sat down in the familiar, deep green comfy chair.

Yes, it had been weeks of holding on,

hoping upon hope for a change

but today was surprisingly different.

It was as if He had whispered it just for me.

“All things are possible.”

Yes ALL things.

I could hardly contain myself.

All things.

In 2021?

Yes I sensed Him assure me.

No matter how challenging the days might still be.

No matter how difficult the problems.

God’s promise was still true. He knows and sees and loves us still.

He had not changed.

The wonder of it all flooded me again with new life.

What was different?

Why the change?

I can’t explain it but I realize it’s true – like never before.

God’s Word for me, for us, for all of us,

hasn’t changed.

All things are still possible.

I don’t know about you but that literally thrills me.

I’ve needed to know it afresh.

Maybe you do too.

Get away from the many distractions,

   the loud voices,

    the noise,

and turn to Him.

He wants you to come closer, to lean in, to bend your ear.

Listen well, my friends.

All things are possible with God.

He wants you to know this.

Today.

Especially today.

Want Confidence?

So what do you think?

Is it possible to grow in confidence?

To really change?

Many folks will tell you yes and share stories of how they are different today.

How did they do it? Well let me share with you one way.

Visualization.

Hm, that’s a big word but it’s easy to understand.

Begin to picture yourself as you’d like to be.

Yes, get a clear idea, for instance, of how you see yourself confident and full of courage.

Smile. That’s quite a picture isn’t it?

Years, many years ago, I ran for Student Council Treasurer in high school.

At the time I was very quiet and didn’t want any attention but I did want to serve my high school class.

I did want to be available to help others.

But to get the office

I had to win a school election.

That involved giving a speech to the whole school.

Dear me, I remember even today my overwhelming fears as I practiced and practiced that speech.

But in addition to going over the words I also imagined myself winning.

Yes, as I prayed, I began to see myself hearing that I had won and taking my place with others I looked up to.

I saw myself giving that speech with heart and pouring myself into the delivery.

I saw myself even to the colors I dressed in that day.

Somehow that visualization worked in a powerful way.

Seeing myself as successful worked far better than seeing myself as a failure.

And yes, I won. But the real win was in discovering that when God calls you to do something

He Himself enables you to do it.

He is your Strength within.

Visualize yourself performing that very thing that causes you to be afraid.

Visualize yourself succeeding.

As you pray give it all to the One Who loves you.

Speak words of truth and confidence to yourself.

Trust Him and He will bring it to pass.

Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6

The Peril Of Having Sight But No Vision

Move forward. Yes, keep moving forward.

That’s where the joy is. That’s where the adventure lies.

Keep moving forward.

But in order to do that

you must have a vision.

Without vision people perish. (Proverbs 29:8)

Without vision we stagnate

continuing to do what we are comfortable doing.

Staying in our nice safe box. Doing what we know best.

But life is about moving forward,

stretching and growing

seeking, reaching, sometimes leaping.

So how do you get a vision?

Ask yourself “If you could do anything what would you be doing?”

“If you could meet anyone

who would you want to meet?”

Or “If you could go anywhere, where you would go?”

Or “If you could write anything knowing it would sell, what would you write?”

Those questions and more will begin to give you an idea of your heart’s true purpose

and a vision.

Spend time in prayer seeking His Will for your life.

Work with a coach who is equipped to lead you in your discovery.

Read books of others who are doing what you’d like to be doing.

Keep moving forward

to the Light of His Purpose.

Life is lived forward

not backward.

Yesterday is gone. What we hold in our hands is the gift of today.

Think vision, dream big and listen to those gentle whispers.

“The most pathetic person in the world is some one who has sight but no vision.”
― Helen Keller

Now is the time to set your sails and let Him lead you.

You have no idea what you could possibly accomplish in your lifetime

but He does.

Keep moving forward today.
