It’s Time To Spring Into Action

iceThe drip drip drip outside my window reminds me that warmer weather has come

and my heart rejoices and sings.

For days the temperatures have been bitter and the winds harsh. My lovely daffodils covered with ice and snow. But I know that in time

Yes in time

Spring will come.

Spring always comes

for you and for me.

Life’s seasons can be hard for people too. Have you noticed?

The stoop of that man is more severe

the light in her eyes has faded

the bounce in his step is missing

and her song has not been heard for days

or weeks or sometimes months

Aging like a harsh winter storm can slow the step and quench the joy.

Loss after loss can suddenly freeze the very heartstrings

that used to sing so easily.

But suddenly

In sometimes the most unexpected ways

the warmth of God’s love shines forth with healing love

because He knows.

Yes, He knows our deepest need

and cares. He bends close and wraps us in His Light and Love

whispering words of encouragement and hope.

Sometimes He uses the kind words of friends and family.

Sometimes even a simple comment

to warm the heart that beats but with painful effort.

“Winter is not forever,” He gently whispers.

“Spring is on its way and then everything will bloom once more with vibrant color and pulsating life.

You’ll see. Listen to the drips.”

And so I do.

Drip, drip, drip out my window today. It is warmer and the ice is beginning to melt.

Big chunks of ice are rapidly melting

while the birds flitter and sing  all around.

All nature knows

and we must too.

Spring always comes!

Life looks different through the lens of winter.

but truth is often hidden as deep beneath the surface

life awaits for just the right time.

Springs always comes, my friends,

and with that in mind

plan the gardens, make those vacation plans,

order the swimsuit  and buy those flip flops,

take out that outline and blow off the dust.

It’s time to do something with Spring in mind.

For it will come. Yes, it’s just around the corner.

Let the Sun of His Smile move you to action today.

Spring always comes. So with that in mind, what will you do today?

Shining Moments

They looked like dead sticks.

dark limbs etched across the ever changing sky.

My eyes would often lift to them

as I walked in and out of my house.

And I would wonder

would Spring ever come?

The cold days of winter seemed to drag on and on.

Nothing seemed to change.

One day after another

and my eyes would look at those bare branches

remembering previous Springs when they would be covered with blossoms.

Purple plum trees. Beautiful in their glory

but all I saw was what looked like

dead sticks.

Life became hard.

Strong winds blew

and I drew my daughters close

and waited.

So much of life is waiting.

He works while we wait.

I held onto that Truth

and I watched those bare limbs.

Suddenly the temperatures rose.

Leaps and bounds.

Windows open, winter clothes thrown off.

Laughter and excitement.

Glorious Spring

and I looked up high at those branches and saw the tiny buds.

Small at first.

Very small but I knew that their was life

where it had appeared to be none.

Days went by

warmer now

and last night I stepped outside and my heart almost burst with excitement.

Blossoms opening in the hushed evening hours.

God’s miraculous Hand transforming

cold, bare winter days into warm, flowering springtime inVirginia.

Spring always comes, I sensed His whisper deep within.

Never will I leave you

Never will I forsake you. Hebrews 13:5

Springtime wraps its arms of hope around you and I whispering

That no matter how long the wait

no matter how deep the pit

our God will prevail.

His mercies are new every day and Spring always comes.

Whatever you are facing in life

hold on to that promise.

We dare not trust what our eyes can see.

No, there is more. He is at work for you and for me. Behind the scenes.

With hearts uplifted in praise to our King

enjoy the signs of His Promises

and the awakening of life all over.

Shining Moments

Early this morning I arose in the dark

and prepared to walk the dog.

The air was crisp as I stood outside

watching the dawning of another daybreak.

But something was different. Something that hadn’t been there before.

I heard it.

the sound of birds chirping in the darkness.

Yes, it’s the time of the singing of birds.

Glorious Spring!

The time of the birth of dreams.

Do you have a dream?

Is there something that you’d long to do?

A place you’d like to see?

An experience, maybe, that you’ve always to have?

As the birds flit from tree to tree feathering their nests.

my thoughts wander to a dream that I’ve had.

A place I’d like to go with my girls…

An experience I’d like to share

always the practical wars with the dreamer.

You can’t afford that

You can’t do that

It’s not the right time

No, you must stop dreaming.

But to dream is to be alive

To dream is to set your eyes on a star and to follow it.

I don’t know if my dream will become a reality.

I pray so.

That’s where it all must begin.

On my knees

waiting upon the Lord

Who authors dreams day after day.

Humbling committing the dream and the dreamer to Himself.

Then arising and beginning to work

just imagining if it could come true….

Saying no so that the dream could come to life.

Rolling up my sleeves to work.

It’s time to dream, my friends.

The birds are singing and planning and preparing.

Join me, won’t you, in having a dream.

Brush off that longing,

blow the dust off those papers,

Just suppose you could do it

what would you do?
