Any day can be a special day if we choose to make it so.

Yes, any day.

It might be cloudy outside

and our energies low

but that choice of declaring it a special day changes everything.

It’s all about the power of choosing.

That’s how National Tooth Day originated.

Noelle was young and so excited that her first tooth came out.

“It’s National Tooth Day,” she giggled running out of the house.

She pinned a sign to the lamppost announcing to all who walked by.

We celebrated with balloons and cake.

And what might have been a seemingly natural but ordinary happening in her life

became a memory that I will cherish for a lifetime.

This is the day that the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalms 118:24

This day however it is for you and for me.

Cloudy or blue skied. Cold or hot.

It’s the day that the Lord has made

and that is our reason to rejoice.

We don’t have to wait for Christmas or a birthday.

We don’t have to put off our times of celebration until vacation.

Let’s rejoice today!

Then there are the ‘just because days’.

All of a sudden it is declared.

National Noelle Day

National You Day

because you are deeply loved and most valuable.

We pick up their favorite treat and honor them by doing just what they enjoy.

He rejoices over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17

I can see it as I laugh and sing over my girls and hold tightly to the moments.

I celebrate their precious lives.

Anything becomes an opportunity to rejoice and celebrate.

But that He,

My Awesome God, rejoices and dances over me?

That takes my very breath away,

leaves me trembling with humility and awareness of my deep unworthiness.

Can you hear Him whisper, “Today is National (fill in your name) day.?”

Our very hearts quiver and say “Why?”

“Why me?”

“Because I love you!” He declares.

Awesome God dancing over His beloved child.

No, there is no ordinary day.

Today is a day to celebrate…

to join the party. To come inside.

To receive His Grace and let our weary, undeserving hearts embrace

a love that we can never totally comprehend.

But although not understood He longs for us to accept it.

. A glimpse of a rainbow on my birthday reminding me again

that He sees and knows and cares.

There are no ordinary days.

Today is special.

Celebrate the moments.

Hold tightly the ones that you love

and choose to make today extraordinary.
