Shining Moments

Apr 19, 2013

One great mistake I’ve made again and again in life is to worry.

Yes, from the time I was very young my heart would become

troubled and upset

about many things.

Although I grew physically and

entered my teens and young adult years.

I’d still worry and

at times become overcome with fears and doubts.

Drained of joy in the moment

I’d hope things would work out.

And they tended to.

Not that it was always smooth sailing.

No, no one’s life is like that

but the dreaded things I’d fear would never happen.

The sun would rise on the next day

and life somehow continued.

But

worry, fear, a troubled heart

didn’t fit with my growing faith in the Lord.

No, and that troubled me.

I knew His Word said that He is Faithful.

Yes, I knew by heart so many of those verses

telling us to not fear

telling me that my way of coping with life was wrong.

It wasn’t until I was older that I began to learn the secret-

the secret that would change my life

and open the way for me to do things

I never would have considered before.

Rather than worry

He whispered to me ‘to nestle’.

Yes, nestle down deep in His Love

and there I discovered peace.

There I found One Who held me no matter how dark the night

or furious the storm.

Let not your heart be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.

Jesus.

As I learned to rest in the Love of Jesus

I found a peace

that is beyond my ability to describe but available to all.

As I walked that long ramp to board the plane forRussia

many years ago

my mind thought of all the possible reasons the adoption might fail

or I might not ever make it back home.

But I was held by the One Who understood and knew all my doubts and fears.

Yes, He knew my very weakness and still called me to follow Him.

I sensed His Hand outstretched

to me,

trembling with all my fears

and I knew His Love and strong keeping.

S,o I went forth

even slept on the plane

and in a few days came home holding my precious daughter.

Safe?

Yes, I was safer in Russia than anywhere else.

The safest Place is always in Him.

Every day we face numerous unexpected disasters.

Boston Marathon,Texas,

earthquakes, tornadoes, storms, financial upsets, illness

but the words of Jesus speak truth today.

Yes, we are surrounded by troubles and trials

but the answer to it all is in learning to rest in Jesus.

Don’t wrestle, just nestle.

Good words, don’t you think?

Lastly,

hold onto these words throughout this day

Don’t let this throw you. You trust God, don’t you? Trust Me.

(John 14:1 The Message)

Rest in Him.

Lovely! And good timing! Thank you, Sharon. I’m apt to overthink and fret, but just this morning I was asking God’s help with fears and worries that don’t align well with faith.

How kind of our Lord and how humbling, Mary. I understand just what you mean but simply letting Him have it all is life abundant! Thank you so much for sharing.
