Shining Moments

I had no way of seeing it coming.

My day had been full and I had stopped by the church to pick up my youngest.

Just a simple moment in between life’s demands.

As I entered the darkened sanctuary, I groped to find my way.

I looked up as I heard music playing

and saw an angel in beautiful white dancing

and praising the Lord.

The choir sang in the background and as the music swelled in intensity,

my heartbeat quickened

It was my sin

    that nailed You there

It was my cross

    You had to bear

That’s it, my soul responded.

Your precious blood has washed me clean.

No greater Love has this world ever seen.

Tears trickled down my face.

You died for me

  You washed me clean

I am redeemed

Worship the King!

Overwhelming emotions flooded me as the Truth resounded.

Nothing else really matters.

He is the King and He died for everyone.

See the King who died for me

    Risen from the grave

   He’s alive!

Yes, He is alive, I whispered in the darkened room.

He’s alive and that makes all the difference.

Shining moments all over.

Heart overflowing

Soul dancing with pure joy

For a few moments time simply stood still.

I will never forget that moment

when once more I was gripped by a Love that is beyond reason.

So difficult for our limited minds to conceive

but so simple that the smallest child whispers

“Jesus loves me.”

He is alive, my friends,

bringing our search for purpose, passion and peace to a new place.

Life is not terminal after all.

He is risen!

Let the wonder of His death and resurrection flood your life

with millions of shining moments.

Shining Moments

I had a dream, a deep heart longing, to be a mother.

That longing pushed me forward through all the paperwork,

and challenges of flying toRussiato complete an international adoption.

That dream strengthened me to act in spite of my feelings,

to face the mountain of fears,

to push through

until I held my own precious little daughter in my arms.

Never to be forgotten moments.

That desire carried me through sleepless nights

and days as I worked to provide for her.

A vision greater than myself.

A dream bigger than my own limited resources.

A passion that gripped my heart enabling me to ignore everything else that might discourage.

He leads me beside the still waters. Psalms 23:2

Outside I was stretched

inside I was soothed.

Outside I was pressed

but inside I was at peace.

Day by day and with each passing moment

Strength I find to meet my trials here.

Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment

I’ve no need for worry or for fear.

It’s been a stretching time recently.

A time when I’ve had to dig deep to move beside those still waters.

A time when I’ve needed to remember His Faithfulness and continued care.

He never changes

and though everything around us may cause us to question

His Presence walks beside us

leading us to those still waters.

Have you discovered those still waters?

A place where you read His Word and you know beyond knowing that He is with you?

A moment when you feel it in the whisper of the breeze

that you are not alone.

the sound of a child’s laughter

the glow of the early sunrise

He continue to strengthen and supply all our needs one day at a time.

Whatever you are facing today

know that He is with you

and let Him lead you to the still waters.

Lift your eyes beyond the immediate challenge

to the vision,

the dream,

the call.

Be strong in His Strength

and embrace His Peace.

Shining Moments

It seemed the most ordinary thing to do

but it was not ordinary at all.

No, not in the last ordinary.

A hot cup of tea.

That was it.

You see, life was busy back then many years ago.

I’d come home from high school with piles of homework

that I took so seriously.

Hours of hours of time I’d spend trying to get everything done for the next day.

I missed times with my family.

Looking back I regret not having spent more time just talking

but then I remember those tea times.

I’d walk in the door of our house and she’d already have the kettle on.

The cups would be on the table.

I’d smile inside at my mom’s thoughtfulness.

In just a few minutes I’d hear the sound of the kettle singing.

A glorious sound in the midst of the day.

She’d pour the hot
water into the waiting cups and I’d sit down at the table.

Watching the tea bag in the hot water

letting myself drink in the quiet and peace of home.

Mom would add just a little milk in her tea

and I’d have mine with a small spoon of sugar.

Both of us stirring our tea

as we began to talk.

Shining moments

brighten my day as I remember those special tea times.

Times when I could freely talk knowing that she would understand

or at least try to.

Sharing my joys and frustrations as a teenager

always feeling loved.

I do the same thing.

Get out the mugs

heat the water.

Add the teabag and watch it swirl in the hot water.

Add the sugar…just a little bit of sweetness

Talk and listen to my daughters

Hold the moments

Encourage them

Build into their lives.

Tea times are essential for us.

How about you?

Do you have a time when you gather with your loved ones?

When you freely share the quickly fleeting moments?

It need not be tea but I do hope that you make time to connect

with others.

Intentionally building into their lives.

In a world the seems to be going at jet speed

It’s important to create meaningful moments.

How are you doing it?
