Take Charge of Your Anxiety

Feb 5, 2019

Yes, it might surprise you but I’m going to ask anyway.

What would happen if you could control your brain and decrease your anxiety?

Without pills?

Here’s why I’m asking.

Studies have shown that the brain can be changed causing ones anxiety to decrease.

Sound too good to be true?

During periods of high stress and anxiety what happens to your hands?

If you are anything like me, your hands get colder.

Right? Have you noticed?

Brain science teaches us that when under stress the blood rushes to the brain

    leaving the hands colder.

If one intentionally warms their hands by putting them in warm water

or holding a warm cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate

the blood goes from the brain –where it’s been working hard due to the stress-

and returns back to the hands

reducing anxiety.

How would you feel if you could begin to reduce your anxiety?

Well, you can.

Focus on hand warming.

Some other ideas are warming hands in front of a fire, putting on warm gloves,

    holding a partner’s skin

yes, the ideas are endless

but the principle is the same.

Warm hands draw the blood from the anxious brain away from the brain

and back down to the hands.

There are certainly other ways to calm the limbic brain and relax your system

such as prayer, meditation, focusing on your breathing, etc.

but hand warming is one more overlooked practical tool that you can do.

Now. Today.

You can take charge of your stress.
