Wow- A New Way to Win

It might sound way too simple but I’ll ask you anyway.

What is one thing that you can do to boost your positive emotions, block fear and change your brain?

It’s almost too good to be true but research shows its effectiveness. Every time.

Are you ready for the answer? Gratitude.

Yes, being grateful. Intentionally.

Gratitude is an antidote to fear.

Fear focuses on all things that could go wrong.

But gratitude focuses on all the things that have gone right.

And when our gratitude is focused on all God’s blessings and provision

we then have a powerful supply of gratitude.

Fear places us in a shaky position of insecurity.

But gratitude places on in a stable position of thankfulness.

You can’t be fearful and grateful at the same time.

It just doesn’t work.

So when facing a situation that causes you to begin to fear and grow anxious,

   take charge of your life.

Change your thoughts and you’ll change your life.

Think – gratitude. What are you thankful for?

Stay with that thought. Are there more things you are thankful for?

  How else are you blessed?

See, the more we intentionally focus on those blessings, our brain changes.

Research shows that focusing on gratitude actually changes the molecular structure of our brain

and makes us healthier and happier.

Isn’t that amazing?

Fear causes confusion.

Gratitude causes peace and a sense of well being.

Write a letter of gratitude to someone and that starts the healing process.

No longer do you need to feel helpless and out of control.

Gratitude therapy works.

And finally, don’t be discouraged if at first you find this difficult to do. Habits are formed by taking new small steps and doing it again and again.

Want to join the Gratitude Club?  It will change your life.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6,7 NIV

What Is That To You?

Life races on. One day after another.

Family. Work. Faith. Juggling and more juggling.

Winter. Spring….

Glorious Spring.

Patience. Peace…

Uh peace?

Was I really at peace?

It is so easy to get overwhelmed by technology. At least for me.

Checking this. Adding that. Commenting here. Reposting that.

All the while aware

without even wanting to know

what so many others are doing.

Beaches. Cruises. Books. Families. Weddings. Graduations. And on and on.

When suddenly  a strange feeling like a thick blanket comes over me.

Why? Yes why?

Crazy as it seems the constant awareness of what others are doing

instead of giving joy brings weariness and the beginnings of discouragement.

Lord, you know all that is going on.

Like pulling out of an ocean of sticky molasses

I reach for His Hand  and hear His gentle whisper.

“What is that to you?”

Suddenly the busyness stops. The noise quiets. And my heart beats slower.

Yes, what is it to me?

His Call to me is unique.

His Love to follow is personal.

His purpose for my life is chosen just for me.

So what is it to me? To us?

Quiet the noise and keep our eyes on the One Who called us.

Be intentional. Refuse to get distracted.

And remember

What is that to you?

You follow Me.

Shining Moments

Let’s just admit it. Life can be very hard at times.

There are things we have no control over.

But we can control our own perspective.

Our perspective lined up with truth

controls our actions and then feelings.

If you think of today as building a sundae

I’m placing a cherry on mine.

How about you?

Sure, its cloudy outside.

Errands to run. Appointments to keep.

Papers to write. Bills to pay.

But this is not any ordinary day.

No, today pulsates with life.

I have never experienced today

And I want to give it my very best.

My very best for the King.

I quickly review the gifts all around me

  My daughters,

   My family

     Our pets,

       Our home,

All the friends I know and dearly love

   And most of all, Jesus

Who walks and talks with me.

Together we will live this day to our best.

Spreading sunshine wherever we go.

Being sensitive to the needs all around

And deliberately reaching out and touching another

Loving and caring and sharing myself

Singing His Song wherever I go.

But sundaes need whipped cream.

 Right?

So that means ordinary becomes extraordinary as I intentionally connect with another

Meet the eyes of the clerk at the counter

         Smile and say “Good Morning”

Offer to carry that bag of groceries for the woman as she walks across the street.

And sundaes need cherries.

And I’m planning to meet with a new friend and spend time together.

Hearts beating together

Sharing life and love.

Yes, that’s my plan of having an extraordinary day.

Sure, there will be surprises along the way.

My day might have a nut or two

But I’ll chop them up and they’ll add flavor too

   Everything serves His Purpose

When we let it His have it.

But when I intentionally plan to make it a cherry topped day

That changes everything.

How about you?

A cherry topped day for you?
