Now Is The Time

For years I thought about writing another book

but there was never enough time.

Time or energy.

I started a book set in my beloved Maine but pushed  it aside with the busyness of life.

Sad.

Waiting for the right time.

But the right time never comes.

Not for me, at least.

So this year I wrote again on my list of New Years Goals

Finish your book.

January, February. March. April.

No forward movement on writing.

But suddenly in May as I was musing on the unfinished manuscript

I realized that if I only had a few days to live

there was things I wanted  my daughters to know.

A legacy, you’d say.  Words that they and scores of mothers and daughters could read.

Letters

reminding them of what matters most in a crazy, quickly changing world.

So I sat at my computer and wrote.

And wrote and wrote and wrote.

One letter after another.

Every once in a while I wiped away some tears as I poured out my heart.

This was my chance

to write it down.

The book started quickly- practically wrote itself

And when it was done I felt such a sense of satisfaction.

Yes, now I will go back and finish that partially completed fiction piece

and other books.

But no matter how many book I write in my short lifetime

This one, “Always Remember” will always hold a special place in my life.

Always remember to follow your dreams and do what you were created to do.

Don’t ever forget.

He will help you do it.

In His time. In His way.

Always remember.

“You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island of opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land; there is no other life but this.”
― H. W. Thoreau

Shining Moments

Whew. Just came home from exercising

and I love that all over

‘just did it’ feeling.

Stretching those muscles.

Setting goals and moving towards them.

I find that it’s all too easy to stay at the same place

instead of growing.

Although there is no way that you can be growing in every direction at once

Maybe now is that time

yes NOW

that you sense it’s important

to move out of mediocre

and grow.

God has placed within you

potential and strengths to do more

oh, much more

that you can possibly imagine.

So let’s begin.

Ok?

What have you wanted to do

but have held back from?

Or let’s put it this way-

If you knew that you could accomplish it

what would you like to do?

Down deep inside

what have you been yearning to do

where have you been longing to go

but it never seems right

or there’s never enough money?

My heart is to embrace yours to encourage you

to pray deeply and earnestly about those desires

and then begin to step out in that direction.

You with me?

Not knowing how

or when

just beginning to work in that direction.

Trusting a great God,

leaning on His Strength,

asking Him to do the seemingly impossible in and through you.

Sometimes

its that first step that is the most important.

Deciding.

Write down what it is

and also why you want to do that.

The why is almost more important than the what.

I want to complete my first fiction book.

I’ve sensed it within me for a long, long time

but there is never enough time or energy to finish it.

I even have the title but have not yet completed it.

Sound a little like you?

As I pondered why I want to write the book

it came down to this.

I’ve sensed that it’s a story that will encourage and inspire others

to glorify Him.

That’s what energizes me to write it.  I imagine His Smile.

So prayerfully listen to His call.

Then write it down and also write the why.

Then begin to plan what small steps you can begin to take to bring it to pass.

Your life is a gift

and He has gifted you. Let’s make this year

the year that you finally do it.

Are you with me?

I’m excited.

Let me know what you think?

Shining Moments

What do you want to focus on this year?

So many things clamor for our attention

it is easy to get lost,

thrown off,

distracted.

But really only one thing matters.

Living for Christ

following in His steps

being obedient to the end.

We grab our pens and paper,

my girls and I,

and slowly write out the things

we believe that He wants us to focus on.

I glanced at my list from last year

grateful to have completed many of the things listed.

A new website up.

A trip to Maine.

Eating healthier and exercising more.

Making some new friends and trying to deepen relationships with others.

Writing this blog.

But

there is more. Always more.

Yes, this year there are new mountains to climb

and new rivers to cross.

Let’s wade out into the waters and expect great things this year.

Prayerfully

carefully I write down a goal.

It challenges me to even think about. My knees tremble. My hands sweat.

Where will I get the time?

It’s a God size dream, for sure.

How about you?

Are you listening in the quiet for His still small Voice?

Is there something you’d like to do

you sense His calling

but fear failing

Inadequacy

Limited resources

Weaknesses all over.

The adventure Hs calls us to live is always beyond ourselves;

something greater than we know we can do.

God calls us to lean on Him.

It’s that life of dependency on the Lord that enables us

to go further,

to accomplish more

to attempt greater things than we ever thought possible.

He is

and always will be

the God of the Impossible.

Exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask or think. Ephesians 3:20

Listen to His call and write it down.

Then step by step move forward.

I’m going to do just that. Won’t you join me on this adventure?

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart.
