Shining Moments

Jun 21, 2012

I thought I would die from the heat.

Really.

One summer we stayed at Hampton Beach,Mass.I can still see the small

cottage where we all squeezed in. Walking distance from the beach.

Yeah! But what I though would be marvelous time turned sour.

High temperatures day after day.

No a/c and trouble sleeping at night.

Difficulty walking on the very hot sand and having the bottoms of your feet scorched.

And to top it all off when we tried to go into the ocean

the extreme cold left us in so much pain—excruciating pain

that even the toughest of us all couldn’t go far.

Life can be like that, can’t it?

You think something will be the best ever

only to discover that it’s the worse.

But through it all there is a constant. God.

His Presence brightens those dark times

just as memories of my family brighten those difficult experiences.

Yes, summer, fall, winter and spring

He is there

    drawing us to Him

like water on a thirsty plant.

“Call onto Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you

great and mighty things that you do not know.” (Jeremiah 33:3)

We all came home from that vacation with suntans

   and lots of memories.

Sidewalks can become hot ovens in the summertime.

The ocean waters can be freezing.

Things are not always how they seem.

But the One Who loves you and me

is better than our highest thoughts and imaginations.

There is no disappointment in Jesus.

Wow, aren’t you glad about that?
