Discovering Your Purpose

Sep 27, 2011

“What do I do?” she asked over the phone. “How do I decide?”

Her question is the question on so many hearts these days.  Knowing your purpose enables you to sort through the wealth of options and to make wise choices.

When I was a child my heart was always sensitive to the needs of others. Whether it was someone in my class at school or the neighbor down the street, I watched people and longed to reach out and help.  But it wasn’t until a few years ago that I began to see that unmistakable thread that continues to motivate my life. As a result I now experience satisfaction as a professional counselor, certified life coach and a freelance writer. Understanding my own uniqueness and strengths has enabled me to make life choices that continue to bring me so much joy.

How about you? Are you aware of how God has created you uniquely different from anyone else on earth? Have you discovered what gives you the deepest meaning and satisfaction in life?

We are all bombarded on every side by decisions. It is too easy to settle for the good and miss the most important things in life. It is too easy for one to be so busy that you miss what would give you the deepest sense of joy and satisfaction in life.

That is where having a coach makes a big difference.

A coach helps you look at where you are in life and helps you get to where you want to be. A coach teaches you skills so that you can make better decisions and develop a greater sense of purpose in your life.

For the next few days I along with several thousand others will be attending the American Association Christian Counselors World Conference in Nashville Tn. I am looking forward to learning and growing in ways that I can further help others to discover greater meaning and purpose in their lives.

So until Monday remember–

Many persons have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.
Helen Keller

Maybe its time for you to discover your purpose.
