Help For Those Times When Your Inner Peace Is Threatened

Do you find it difficult to maintain your inner peace when others threaten to destroy it?

Have you tried over and over to think peace

but the negative attitudes of others chip away at your poise and confidence?

So at times you even wonder if it is at all possible.

But the truth is you can discover inner peace and learn ways to maintain it.

Let me share five ways that I have learned work to build peace:

  1. Peace is a result of setting limits in your life.

Say no to the harmful, negative, toxic influences. Guard yourself with healthy boundaries.

  1. Learn to slow down and be still.

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10 KJV

Stillness and times of quiet are essential to finding inner peace.

  1. Instead of seeing every difficulty as a huge problem begin to see it as an opportunity

to learn and grow. This simple change in your perception will change how you feel.

  1. Accept the things you cannot change and let go. Yes, give yourself permission to let go of

relationships or circumstances, etc that you cannot change. Yes, it hurts. Yes, it’s not right but let go and move forward.

  1. Look out at window or go outside. Observe the wonders of life all around and list three things for which you are grateful.

You might find yourself at this moment in a difficult situation or surrounded by unrest and chaos.

In the midst of life’s roughest times there is One Who knows your name and promises to be with you.

He offers to give you peace

His peace

Himself.

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27 KJV

Accept Him as your peace in every situation.

Things may not change immediately but you will.

“The only way to live in this adventure-with all its danger and unpredictability and immensely high stakes-is in an ongoing, intimate relationship with God.”

Moving Forward Anyway

Feeling defeated?

Scared?

Discouraged?

Overwhelmed by life’s circumstances?

How do you move forward when you’re stuck in this place?

Slowly.

Determinedly.

Confidently.

Right now take charge of your life and begin to move forward anyway

by following these 3 simple steps.

  1. Recognize what the fear is

Yes, call it by name. Write it down. Say it out loud. Whether a fear of flying or roller coasters, or beginning a small business. Pesky fears can eat at our confidence and destroy our sense of well being.  When God confronted Moses on the farside of the wilderness at Mount Horeb out of  the burning bush. (Exodus 3)  He broke through the ordinary and revealed His amazing Plan. But Moses was afraid.  What’s your fear?

  1. Ask yourself why it’s holding you back

Face it clearly. What’s been keeping your trapped? All too often our focus is on our own limitations and ourselves. We resist change and have a defeated mindset. But you can rise to the challenge and overcome by a choice to see things differently.

  1. Reset your mindset and begin to focus on the positive outcomes. Realize and embrace the resources you do have. Right now. He has promised to be with you. Always. No matter what.

You can do more than you think you can. You are more than you think you are. His power within you enables you to rise to new heights and accomplish more than you ever could in your own strength.

A way to bring back the laughter and restore the sparkle in the eyes?

A way to renew your zest for living and a youthful vitality?

Yes. It is.

No magic wands. No quick fixes. But definitely things that you can learn

that will not only slow the aging process but in many cases renew your youth.

It will take learning new habits

and changing some ways of thinking.

It might involve incorporating a few minutes of a healthy activity

into your present lifestyle.
