Shining Moments

We planned to awaken early to see another sunrise.

The last one before the fall semester, schoolwork, papers, deadlines….

But that morning when I opened my eyes all I could see  was a thick covering of clouds. No need to go to our favorite place.

No need to bring the camera and capture the moment. The sun was gone or at least far from view.

Disappointment filled my hearts as my girls and I readjusted our morning.

Pull up the sheets and go back to sleep.  Why bother to get up early?

Sunrise moments in our lives cannot be completed scheduled.

Weather changes and along with that so do our plans. But in the midst of the changes and sometimes disappointments, I realized something. The sun was still there!

Yes, way above the blanket of grey, the sun was still shining.

Our God lives and loves and works for you and me.  Disappointment began to lift as slowly my understanding grew.

When I see a magnificent  sunrise my heart beats with  excitement and wonder. His handiwork is alive with His Beauty and Glory. I see and because I see, I know.

But when all is draped in grey and I can’t see anything, I’m forced to cling to what I already know.

“I am the Way, the Truth and the Life” John 14:6
“I honor those who honor Me.” I Samuel  2:30

“I will never leave you or forsake you.”  Hebrews 13:5

“For God so loved the world and gave His only begotten Son so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

Bedrock reality truths that we can trust no matter what the weather – clear and sunny, or cloudy and grey.

Let’s respond to this truth with hearts overflowing with praise,

singing His Song.

Let’s live out His Love on pleasant days when all is going well

but also on days where disappointment seems to reign and things just don’t go as planned.

Let’s see Who is hidden from view and rejoice in the opportunity to trust Him even more.

There is a purpose for everything.

Delays, disappointments, darkness…..

I’m looking for that sunrise although it looks like I won’t see one for a while.

Until then I’m gazing at what I cannot see but know is there.

Will you join me? cloudy days

Shining Moments

heaven on earth 1Impossible.

I hear it screaming through the airwaves. Voices abound proclaiming doom and gloom

But our God lives and He is Faithful.

Just watch.

You’ll see.

I oftentimes think how it must have been for the Israelites as they approached the Red Sea.

Chariots and horses were closing in behind them as they hurried along.

Before them the vast sea with no possible way.

Behind them the Egyptians.

No places to hide; no trees to climb; nowhere.

I’ve been in that place. Have you? Maybe you are there right now.

When the walls are closing in upon you and time is running out

don’t look around. Look up.

My pulse races as I think about how panic stricken those people must have been.

They didn’t expect it to turn out this way.

If only, if only, if only – can you hear their racing thoughts.

From the youngest to the oldest they were at the end.

But when all seemed impossible and there seemed to be no way

God stepped in and made a way where there was no way.

The winds kicked up a fury and the churning waters  pushed back in mighty walls revealing a path

Where there had been no path minutes before.

With the sound of those dreaded chariot wheels coming closer and closer and closer

the people  began to hurry along that path – God’s provision.

Hearts racing, gasping for air they moved along.

How long would the path remain?

As long as it took for His people to get to the other side.

God’s perfect timing.

My spirit soars with wonder every time I think of it. He saved them! He made a path where there was no path.

And isn’t that just what we need today?

So many are waiting on Him. Time racing out, clock ticking the slow, dreaded minutes

getting closer and closer to the end.

Where do you turn when you are terrified?

You look ahead and see impossibilities.

You look behind and see the chariots coming closer and closer.

Wait! Slow it all down!

That doctor’s word  is not the last word. No, God loves the word impossible.

Time after time He shows us that all things are possible with Him.

Moment after agonizing moment He breathes on this frightened world

whispering words of peace and hope and drawing us to lean into His Loving Arms.

Are you there at this moment?

Take comfort in this –

Only believe. God’s Ways are not ours. Our God is able to do what man can never understand.

Let’s humble ourselves and bow before our King surrendering all of our ways and feeble ideas

And then rise again trusting Him to do whatever His loving Will declares.

Exciting moments; Opportunities to see like never before

That He is Who He says He is

And He does what He says He will do.

Shining Moments

And He made a way

where there was no way. I read those words this morning and they touched my heart.

His path. A path that no one knew was there. Psalm 77:19

Have you ever tried to figure something out?

Tried to unknot a relationship mess-

Worked to locate a job when there seems to be none-

Struggled to discover treatment for an illness when the doctors say there is none-

Crunched and crunched the figures only to discover that there is simply not enough money?5178_1096508491808_1899847_n

But God makes a way where there is apparently no way.

Yes, shining moments all over.

Reality says there is no way.

Statistics say there is no hope.

Experts proclaim that it is impossible.

But God,

our wonderful and mighty God, only laughs.

He made a way through the sea,

He closed the mouths of lions,

He gave a son to Abraham and Sarah

And He is the same today.

Yes, He never changes.

I sometimes find myself scratching my head when I see no possible solution

or I read the grim predictions. Yes, there are days when all I can do

is to fall at His feet and pour out my heart seeking Him.

God lovingly reminds us in His Word

that His Way leads through the sea where there is no visible way.

No wonder it looks impossible.

We are on holy ground. Shining moments all over.

Let’s no become discouraged or defeated.

No let’s open our eyes and wait upon the Lord.

He is never late. He will make a way where there is no way.

Believe Him today, my friend.
